Frederic Bazille Oil Paintings Impressionism Style, French, 1841-70. Frederic Bazille was born in Montpelier, France, to a rich family of art patrons. His family gave financial support some of the early Impressionist artists who were the professional of French paintings and Frederic Bazille himself became inspired with Impressionism, when he entered the Charles Gleyre’s studio in Paris where he met Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. He was also acquainted with the English-born Impressionist Alfred Sisley. Though Frederic Bazille painted outdoors with Monet and Renoir, and was strongly influenced by his friendships with the impressionists. He remained particularly faithful to the more Impressionism styles and subjects of paintings, favoring portraits and figure paintings over landscapes.
his paintings are dramatic, and he applied that monumental approach to both modern style. In the late 1860's, some of his paintings were accepted at the Paris Salon. Among his best-known paintings were, "Family Reunion", a group portrait in an outdoor setting, shown at the Salon in 1868. Frederic Bazille is closely tied with the fashion of Impressionism as he painted in a radically new style, recording his observations of everyday life. Frederic Bazille was killed in action during the War with Prussia, four years before the first exhibition of Impressionist art.

Frederic Bazille applied his monumental come up to both modern and conformist themes. His brushstrokes were free and strikingly vivid. Under the influence of Manet he modeled his figures with great vigor and courage. Some of Bazille's paintings were established at the Paris Salon. Among his best-known paintings were, "Family Reunion", a group portrait in an outdoor setting. Later on the Salon rejected "La Toilette", a more conventional figurative work. Frederic Bazille is closely tied with the movement of Impressionism as he painted in a thoroughly new style, recording his explanation of everyday life.Open-air painting, was an important portion of the Impressionist approach.

Frederic Bazille painted outdoors in Fontainebleau and in Normandy with Monet and Renoir though he remained notably faithful to traditional styles and subjects of painting, favoring portraits and outline painting over landscape. Frederic Bazille's spacious living quarters in the Batignolles region in Paris became a central meeting place for his friends and fellow artists. The wealthy Frederic Bazille played an important role in behind Monet and Renoir during their timely careers. Both men would often stay with Frederic Bazille and share his studio.

Another of Frederic Bazille's well known paintings, Summer Scene (Bathers) (1869), depicted a section of young men dressed in swimsuits, enjoying a leisurely day in an idyllic situation of trees, grass, and water. To compose the painting, Frederic Bazille transposed figures from drawings done in his Paris farmhouse to the outdoor setting, which was along the banks of a waterway near Méric. The painting, which again showcased Frederic Bazille's bold style and his efforts to paint relatives members and friends in different outdoor settings, was exhibited at the salon in 1870.
